Meme Monday: Heal the World
On the first Monday of each month, the Act Classy crew tries its best to shove a new meme down the Internet’s throat. Of course, today is October first, and you know what that means! It’s the onslaught of pink junk manufactured to distract consumers from the fact that only a tiny fraction of the proceeds actually benefit the cause and that some of the goods themselves, ironically, might be carcinogenic Breast Cancer Awareness Month!
If Facebook has taught us one thing, it’s that humanity is the worst and deserves eventual eradication. But if Facebook has taught us TWO things, another is that people love to participate in pointless “awareness” memes that are basically just vaguebooking with a side of innuendo.
I feel so aware! THAT THIS IS AWKWARD.
If posting a Facebook status chock-full of sexual overtones with no mention of the cause or how to support it is an effective way to battle breast cancer, what other banal internet activities might be changing the world as we speak?
